We are dedicated to studying health disparities, and our studies focus on historically understudied populations.

We commit to creating a culture of inclusiveness that celebrates our differences, and as a result, stand actively against all forms of discrimination.

We recognize that varying perspectives and backgrounds have helped our team better contextualize our research, and created a more creative work environment that cultivates innovation as well as our individual and collective successes.

Obesity and type 2 diabetes are leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Although excess calorie consumption and inadequate physical activity contribute to disease risk, these factors do not fully explain the current epidemics. Numerous environmental exposures, including near-roadway and ambient air pollution have been associated with increased obesity and type 2 diabetes risk. The ECLIPSE Lab aims to improve our understanding of the mechanisms underlying relationships between environmental exposure with obesity, type 2 diabetes, and health disparities. The goal of this work is to inform public policies aimed at reducing harmful environmental exposures.
